HEARTSONGS: A Tribute to the Legendary Ladies of Country Music
July 6 – October 22, 2017
Hear the songs that brought these women into the heart of America!
This musical, crafted to make audiences’ hearts sing, features songs of love, heartbreak, family and faith. Heartsongs is a joyous celebration of the power and resilience women discover within themselves as they travel down life’s highway of young love, marriage, heartbreak (and revenge!), and motherhood. As they come to the far end of that journey, they find they have accumulated a wellspring of wisdom to pass along to their daughters, as the unbroken circle begins all over again.
Created by local singer/actor/composer/director Dennis Curley; writer/lyricist Jim Robinson; and Troupe America founder Curt Wollan, Heartsongs features Church Basement Ladies alum Dorian Chalmers backed by a mostly female band. Fiddle, guitar, banjo and bass will accompany hit songs such as “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Wildwood Flower,” “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” “Harper Valley P.T.A.,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden,” “Mama, He’s Crazy” and more. The show is directed by Dennis Curley, and the script is by Jim Robinson.
